ABOUT CARA CARE
If you consider your pets to be a part of your family, you are in the right place. As Chicago pet sitters and dog walkers, our dogs, cats, birds, fish and small critters are not just pets. They are our furry, feathered and scaly family members, and they deserve only the best. That is why we make it our mission to love and care for all of our clients’ pets just as we would our own.
Cara Care LLC was originally founded in New York City as Cara Care NY by Caraline (Cara) Brockman. The name Cara Care seemed like the perfect choice since Cara was providing all of the pet care services at the time. What most people don’t know is that Cara also means “cherished” in Latin. Thus, Cara Care means “Cherished Care” which exactly what we try to provide for each of our clients with our customized services.
We specialize in working with special needs pets including those with separation anxiety, epilepsy, open fontanels, diabetes, FIV and other medical conditions. If your pet needs medication, we can administer various kinds including pills, eye drops, ointments, injections and syringes. We also have extensive experience caring for senior pets, blind pets, pets after surgery and pets that require home cooked (or other special) diets.
Because we work with so many different types of animals and in so many unique situations, continuing education is crucial and something we take very seriously. That is why we are a member of Pet Sitters International (PSI), certified in Pet First Aid through the American Red Cross, Certified as a Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) through PSI and attend at least two industry conferences each year.
We are a force free and fear free company. This means we aim to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety and stress in pets through positive reinforcement.
We have won several awards over the years including the “2015 Best of Thumbtack” and “2016 People Love Us On Yelp” awards. In addition to providing our award winning pet care services, we also volunteer our time and donate a portion of our profits each year to organizations that share our mission.
